Seems there were a couple of Pembrokes at Tegel with the ASC unit there in the early 70s

Good grief, white overalls for the VAF, what a special occasion (normally only royals or the AOC got those)! As a 'refueller' were you one of that great under appreciated band of FLM's techy? Or did you drive the bowser, hence the lack of that 'OMO' effect of dazzling white.

Good stuff Techy - nice to see how Virgin have weighed in on the London Air Ambulance. FRU sounds good doesn't it, kind of like QRA  Good work mate, and next time I'm in London I will indeed feel in safe hands. Looking forward to the scanned pics.

Although no decision will be made between RAF Geilkirchen and RAF Gutersloh until Bob Hinckley decides to take it on as a definite project, I have located ample material online to show that while Gutersloh had more squadrons (at various times) of Hunter F.6's, Canberra B.2's and Lightning F2/F2A's - Geilenkirchen had a lessor number of squadrons of Sabre F.4's, Hunter F.4's, Canberra B(I)8's and a Lightning F.2. Squadron (92 Squadron: which was stationed at both airbases, and had ties to RAF Leconfield). I suspect that Bob's decision might turn on which airfield he can acquire more of the necessary data for.

I call your attention to his current excellent NATO RCAF airfield at Baden - Solellingen (edsb_fsx.zip at AvSim). This is applicable for RCAF Sabres, CF-104's and CF-18's. Bob has also done RCAF Lahr (EDAN). His most recent released airfield is the Luftwaffe Airbase at Pedersfield (EDSP). It can be used for Luftwaffe Sabres, G-91's as well as visiting F-104's. All these airfields can be found at AvSIm, and would be the host of RAF fighters visits on occasion - so you can justify their use.

Bob's current project is the Italian NATO airbase at Decimomannu (LIED) in southern Sardinia, where the NATO squadrons went (and currently go) to for 6 weeks at a crack to practice gunnery, bombing and air to air.

With a (projected) RAF airbase, it will be possible replicate the Cold War status of the RAF, RCAF and the Luftwaffe. Perhaps the USAF might follow?

Have heart you Cold Warriors!! I'll keep you posted.
