"Now if we want to talk frustrating install issues, let's talk about FSD products..."
Personally I've never had any issues with FSD Products.]
Can't wait for their Jetstar

Make sure you wash your hands afterwards.
I found the artificial horizon switching-on-thingie. Obvious really, it required pressing two red-illuminated buttons somewhere in a see of other illuminated buttons. Now for the radar ... and the lights ...
rtfm eh?

That's the spirit mate! If there's a light on.. press it or turn things until it goes out

Generally I find the 'switch everything off' button before i find anything else. On finals, 4 miles to go, VATSIM and all. Hmm, I wonder what this switch does ...
[cockpit goes dark, the engines turn off] ..
Ok so i've scanned the manuals, but cant find the answer to the question: what is the minimum runway length a C130 needs to takeoff and land (given an average load - 50% fuel, 50% cargo).

Hello Matey..
This info is for the 'J' model so you can expect lighter weights/longer distances in the older versions..
Takeoff distance to 50ft (164,000lbs) 5,850ft
Takeoff Roll (164,000lbs) 3100ft
Landing distance 50ft (135,000lbs) 3000ft
Ground Roll.. 1630ft

2600' is the nominal runway for a lightly loaded C-130E (anything under 120,000 pounds). Above that, just start adding on distance. This is for a 100% flap, full power run-up before brake release (i.e. an assault takeoff) or for a 100% flap, reverse @ 20' landing (i.e. an assault landing).

There's a neat little utility available on Avsim (filename: told_card_calculator.zip) that someone made specifically for the CS C-130. You input a few simple variables (weights, outside temp, pressure altitude, etc) and it computes T/O power settings & speeds and critical field length.
I have absolutely no idea how realistic the data is, but I figured it's better than just taking a stab in the dark.

News for those who have FSX (me included) - I read today at CS main page that the FSX version of C-130 is coming!
