Hi Jason32 i like your Bucc re-working also mate :) OK i found out the reason behind that flickering....It was an overlay of paint on the Buccanop section that needed repainting after the original refill process and now i am trying to get that filthy old Bucc look from the pictures i have..

Great repaint Techy, brings a whole new meaning the Bucc’s nick name of ‘Banana Jet’. Who’s is Bucc is it by the way.

Alex

P.S. I’d love to see the photos you mentioned.

Hi Techy

You need to run the effect in the direction of travel

It looks there like it is running across the aircraft :)

Long streaks and marks over large distances front to back is needed. ;-)

Think of it moving through the air

So the dirt would tend to rise up over the wing,

I once saw an Iberia A300 at Paris that had dirt streaks on the window surround they went along the fuse then up and over at the leading edge..along over the wing and along and down near the trail, then straight again.

You could trace the aerofoil shape on the dirt lines.

That is not so marked in militray jets bit gives an idea of what I mean.

Does PSP9 have a 'smudge' tool like PhotoShop? If so, I recommend smudging the dirt streaks in the direction Garry pointed out, and if possible, adjust the 'strength' setting of the tool to something under 50%, so that it naturally 'trails off' when you smudge it.

It's funny, there are some fishing lures out here advertised under the tagline 'think like a fish' - I would say to pull off realistic weathering ' think like dirt' and follow Garry's advice (i.e. what's the airflow, where are the strongest exhaust emissions from, and are there any areas more protected from slipstream where grease and oil stains may build up more?)

Don't forget too, to layer your weathering effects and adjust the opacity of each layer to suit your needs - that way you can do really grimy versions down the road by turning on more weathering layers and upping the opacity.

Yes Steve PSP does have a smudge tool but i am really thick and am working my way through the process of learning all the twiddly bits in PSP at the mo.....Noodle isn't so bright over here :) Have a look of my first post piccy and look at the weathering? I am trying to get something like that and i am using the smudge tool by laying a large blob of black on the clean yellow then moving it around.....Is this a recommended way to do things? I really don't have the foggiest and am learning new tricks by myself :)
Thanks for the help Garry and Steve keep the hints and tips coming :)
