Some Googling tonight:

If you haven't got these grab this and the links to the larger pictures while you can - real pages not there any more - this is from the Wayback Machine (so perhaps permanent?)
http://web.archive.org/web/200503211331 ... t.au/~dpa/

O-360 engine was also in various other European aircraft, so maybe one of those has suitable sound (Safir?)
http://www.prime-mover.org/Engines/Lycoming/applic.html (search for A-109)

The Airfix magazine mentioned above is given as Vol.12 No.2, October 1970

The problem with using the Safir sound , although technically the same engine - as I said because of the Airedales construction and the odd exhaust system
(not sure why but it looked alot like the Dove mk8s exhaust) it made a totally different noise - of course the only people who would know and probably
point it out were people who flew it or were around them for any length of time. BTW I notice the Australian one in the link has a 0-360 :)

the beginings

Post by Marty »

Hello all and thanks for the links and information, I have been experimenting with the fuselage and although I have remade it several time, I am not happy. I started with FSDS but if I cant get it looking good I will restart in Gmax and see if I can do a better job. I like drawing with gmax but don't like texturing and assembling the model.
I used sections with 40 points and a tube with three sections. Shaped the the three sections, Forward , center and aft, then inserted more sections and modified each section until I had a fuse shape I liked. Then I booled out the windows on a copy of the fuse. Edited the window shapes and deleted unnecessary points. Copied the windows to the original fuse, deleted positional polygons and finally rebuilt the polygons around the windows. Next I split out the polygons that are to be the doors. Thats when it all went toes up.Image I have had this shading problem before and although it wont look as bad after textures are applied it still will be to noticeable. Any comments most welcome Cheers Marty

I wish there were it would be easy to fix.
I think its time for me to move on to Gmax. August already and still no FSDSv3.5. I know some people claim its possible to convert .fsc to X and then use X to mod, but Gmax or 3d studio max, will always be the choice of Microsoft and get the best benefits from the SDK's. For me its a sad transition I will miss FSDS and have volumes to learn about Gmax. I have already started again with the new model and will plod along in Gmax until I have some thing worth while.
Cheers Marty

I think if you have that much doubt about the future of FSDS and have got to the point where you wonder if you should move across every time you hit another snag..... the only advice I would give is go for it.

You really want to make the move so the sooner the better.

Best of luck
