No flame from this direction - the Reds are always superb and immaculate, but the Italians just somehow seem to do it with a bit more style! :yipeee:Keith Jones wrote:Ah! Frecce Tricolori. Fantastic. At the huge risk of being cast as unpatriotic, I think they are even better than the Reds.
(and I won't even put my flame-proof suit on!!)
Lovely photographs DG, but I think you had your camera upside down a few times!
And how did they get away with that registration on the Bulldog!

The Bulldog is a giggle isn't it and one of the few things I didn't have a shot of
I've looked throgh my shots today (took over an hour on slideshow!) and the Red's weren't as tight as they usually are. I can't tell if it's one pilot in particular who was having a bad day but it only needs one doesn't it. A number of shots show 2 aircraft slightly off station and the second would be taking his mark of the first. Overall.. very good as per but not as good as they can be. On the other hand.. the 'Frecce T' were on the ball

Didn't notice the reg on the Bulldog till now
Not sure what it was doing there anyway. It came in, landed, taxied round to the start of the runway, then took off again and departed
Generally, I don't think there is much to choose between the Reds and the Frecce. This time round the Italians had the edge.
The Thunderbirds were very impressive, but also slightly disappointing. Very tight formations, but lacking a bit in flair I think.

Au contraire, Rodders!!! That's my first good look at the new Nimrod, and I think it's pretty impressive. It looks like money has been no object ( and I'm not being sarcastic hereKevin Farnell wrote:New Nimrod looks ugly - like someone with over developed biceps.
I bet Tonks would like to get his hands on one.

I think that's probably the last thing he'd want
Personally, I like it too but I like all the Grimnods in their various guises
A bit 'sterile' on the smoke front (though it did kick a little bit out) and a LOT sterile on the noise front. Why does everything have to be so damned quiet these days
