Well thats two Leanders l know of LOL, like number 9 buses, nowt for ages then two at once :).

I had planned to ship ( pun intended ) it with the Wasp but if your doing one l'll drop mine and swap to a Type 21 or Type 42. I know the Wasp flew with the early Type 21s but l think its only been Lynx's with Type 42s.

Drawings, yeah l'd kept it under my hat for long enough, l'd asked around for drawings and got no where so dug deep after a hint l'd seen in a ship modeling magazine l had and et viola hes now got a web site too.

Problem is now the cats out of the bag a whole rash of virtual RN vessels will hove into sight, l'm sure ITO would if he could and l get distinct impressions from other in house designers as well from reading between the lines.

I must look up these channel ferries l keep seeing mentioned here and there, l'm tempted to do some of the vessels we see here, sailing from say Felixstowe to Antwerpen or Rotterdam, a busy English channel would be a good set up for FS9, not sure yet how you get them to Ai from point to point though, with over 100 North / South transits a day in the Channel its a very busy place and that doesnt count the regular ferry crossings, thats just Europe inbound and outbound freighters.

Hi Michael

Can you put me down for beta viewing please.

I will hold on the leander class then as i have no wish to duplicate.
if you need any others done send me the drawings as i have been trying to get started for about 2 years now.

Rather than duplicate i would rather make fresh stuff.

I served on the Glam so want to make that one quite a lot.

Regards
Rick

Rick,

Well there will be people who wont buy a payware Leander but will gladly take a free one, so they shouldnt be penalised, there will also be people who'll take a freeware one instead of a payware one....but thats market forces for you LOL and that comes with the territory.

l'd say go for the County, two reasons, its personally interesting and a freeware County would suit the freeware Wessex ( the primary reason l opted for the Wasp in the end ) very well.

Beta viewing ?, Wasp or Leander ?, or both ?

Like you l've been looking for drawings for years, not just RN ships but any ships, l've quite a large collection now of merchant men and warhips, my problem is time...or lack of. I also hate duplication, l've junked so many projects over the years as soon as another has appeared, theres so many choices out there that you may as well pick something different, drives Phil mad though LOL.

If you have already ordered the Leander drawings this morning then let me know, l'll reimburse you the cost and you can post them to me as l haven't parted with cash yet and was going to clear the decks and set up an order on Monday after shift work and after pay day ( 15th...whoopeee ).

Rick..

Glamourous Organ will do fine matey. Just change the side number (and stern of couse) to D21.. add Norfolk in place of Glamorgan on the arse-end and change the flightdeck letters to N F. Works for me

Daft question, but will the ships work in FSX? I fancy building a virtual RN.

Hi Guys

Michael= yes to test both  I use FS9 & FSX.
i prefer FSX but have to continue with FS9 till it's at the stage FS2002 was when i stopped with that.

currently i am making FS9 (makemdl) models that work with both as one single file as i cannot yet make self shadowing Bumpmapped X2Mdl exports) but soon. :worried:

& Ben yes to work in FSX (Michaels too i would bet as he has the tools to make proper FSX stuff)

Regards
Rick

PS: Michael i bought HMS Glamorgan 1;96 & HMS Leander 1;96 and some of the detail sheets for Galm in colour.

Grab a Class 22 if you want another then we have a set

Of course, Michael and Rick, you could always do different 'flavours' of Leander, plenty to choose from.

If Rick worked in Max or Gmax we could share parts, mapped and textured, its a simple case to merge and swap bits in and out, things like Sea Wolf, Exocet, gun turrets could easily be swapped back and forth.

HMS Leander is Ikara fitted so l'll opt for HMS Cleopatra which is Exocet fitted, also doesnt have Limbo or that dreaded fiddly ASW sonar contraption on the stern. l'll also go for HMS Amazon and HMS Liverpool at the same time to keep postage costs down.

FSx, wuurrruugghh......shudder LOL, it has its good points....too few IMHO, l find it hard to throw away a sim that runs at 100FPS with it all maxed out to one that runs at 25FPS on half sliders with no effects or AI, all for the sake of bump mapping, moving cars and self shadows  , there just not things that l place highly in my gaming experience, though l respect those where it does.

I suppose one day I'll succumb.

Yes you can make ships in FS9 and FSx, though l haven't tried in the later or even looked at the tech docs to see how it was done, learning FS9 was hard enough and l'd only just cracked it with BGLcompile etc, now l have to relearn it all again, though moving ships you can land on may well be the nudge l need to give FSx a second chance post patch which l've seen hinted at very publicly as very good....but as with any meat bought from the butchers counter, I'll reserve judgment till its cooked and served up on my plate  .

FSx is or will certainly be a better platform for shipping as they move and are land able, FS9 is limited to static ones, those that move are not land able, you could use tick 18 timers in pitch and roll so that it would heave a little, you'd need two or three for each motion with different key frames to make it reasonably random but not too exaggerated, you would also have to be careful with your hierarchy....but technically its possible and the deck would heave and pitch too.

I've no idea where FSx ships sail too and from, l think there only usable in the mission type scenario so free flight out to a ship would probably find it static and land able.

My, what a fertile mind l have this afternoon  !, and typically, little time to put it all to practise  .

Back on topic, OK Rick I'll let you see whats going on as and when, both for FS9 and FSx, you never know, some of your FSx enthusiasm might rub off.

For those with FSX, try the helicopter challanges, the harder ones make you land on a moving millionaires gin palace, good fun!
