Shalom and greetings all my pals,
I am surprised nobody here is offering opinions or analysis on why Monarch went bankrupt and closed down.

Tunisia
Egypt
People will always use "Brexit" as a reason, but I think the near mortal wounds to the Egyptian tourism industry and events in the North African countries would have had a huge knock on effect to a company whose bread and butter is short haul tourism.
To a lesser extent, Turkey.

Re: Analysis on Monarch's Demise??
Yes, this is also what the CEO said. Another factor is probably how and where the company operated. It used to mainly charter/package holiday operations, but more recently first they were doing some long haul which ["new owners"] Greybull abandoned and they also transitioned from offering a relatively high level of service to the low cost model. They also decided to focus on short haul European routes. At this point, you become a direct competitor of Ryanair and Easyjet and that's not an easy place to succeed.
