Simshed gnat puma cockpit & Gauges,

Post by pcpilot007 »

Hi All,
I just installed Brain's great gnat and puma into FSX, All seems well except for the cockpit gauges, can anyone tell me if anyone did an update on the cockpits gauges for these two models, is it possible to change the gauge description's so that an fsx gauge can be used, any advice most helpful.

Paul

Hi Paul :)

I can't recall any further work being done on either model I'm afraid. It may be possible to substitute the gauges used for FSX compatible versions. All you need to do is find a satisfactory doner or doners so all is not lost :)

For this sort of exercise.. FSPS is a must have as far as I'm concerned. It's one of the few programs I've probably got my monies worth out of over the years.. certainly in FS9. I don't fiddle much in FSX.. VC's do my head in

Good luck with both and let us know how you get on  FSX needs both ;)

Not having FSPS, I create my cockpits instrument layout for both VC & 2D, by just adjusting the dimensions within the Panel.cfg, provided of course that you have a copy of the gauges you want to use. Run FSX & have the panel.cfg on screen then you can see how much to move/place or scale each instrument. You will have to reload the aircraft each time to see the change. Make sure you have the .xml as well as the gauge background as well as the needles of course. Most .xml gauges will work in FSX but usually not the old .dll ones. Put the gauges into a folder with the correct title, there is no need to compress them into a .cab - it does tend to slow loading time in FSX if cabbed I find.
Good luck
Keith

After being away from the hobby for a long time I have felt the need to dip my toe in the water again. I'm working on a FSX native version of the Gnat. A completely new version of the aircraft hopefully to the Nimrod standard.
