Re: FSAddon Avro Anson
Dave..
Is the problem you've noticed with the specs visible in the sim? I've looked at a number of different models and can't physically see any difference between right and left nacelles in FSX

Re: FSAddon Avro Anson
Hi Dave, yes it is, although I've only tried it in P3d. At first I thought it was my fault as I was mucking about with sky colours, but I reset those back to default and it was still there. It only affects the models with the lumpy cowls though.
I'll grab a screenshot tonight.

I've also posted a link to this thread, and inquired about the forum membership password problem for both yourself and Dave B.
Could you chaps have a look at the effect of lowering the flaps on speed and lift ? My impression is that they don't seem to have enough effect on either, but I'm no expert and it could be my imagination. Having said that, this aircraft must be one of the easiest to land. Even with my questionable flying skills, I haven't done a bad landing yet. What a great model it is.

Re: FSAddon Avro Anson
Cheers Paul
It certainly doesn't balloon like some models do and with the number of flap positions available, the speed can be managed quite easily I think.
I've had dvd's out this morning as well as trawling the net trying to get to the bottom of the gear sound you mentioned. The cockpit sounds are taken from the real aircraft and if they've not been edited, last for around 6secs. Trying to gauge when gear retraction has begun watching videos is far from easy and I'd hazard a guess that the retraction times for the Shuttleworth 19 are slightly different from the AA T21 but there's not much in it. In FSX, the final 'clunk' you hear on first retraction doesn't seem so loud on subsequent retractions either but FSX is noted for sound issues both inside and out
If anything, I'd say the animation may be just a tad slow but you don't hear the gear from outside and you don't see it from the inside so it's not a problem for me. I know what you're saying though. Hear the clunk and dash outside and there's still a second or so movement before they're fully stowed.
6 or so seconds seems quite fast for full retraction but given they're only diddy legs and don't have far to go, 6 secs isn't so unreasonable

Hi guys,
I (re)found my login to your forum again.... please allow me some time to go through this thread. Also, thanks to Paul I have already made a list of things-to-fix on the Anson.... will send it to Simon next week.
Last but not least I must apologize for not fixing things more quickly, but recently my father got ill (terminal cancer) and he is laying at home on his last weeks.... I am very much occupied arranging his care and seeing to him being comfortable. It is taking much time and also energy, taking it away from my regular work. Sorry !
THANKS for your enthusiasm !
More later !
Kind regards,
Francois

Re: FSAddon Avro Anson
Hello Francois,
Very sorry to hear about your father. Of course family takes priority every time. Our thoughts are with you.
The Anson is a lovely model, and I'm enjoying it very much. The couple of issues mentioned don't detract from the overall package.
I'll recheck the spec issue tonight in FSX as I've only tried it in P3d so far.

Yo Francois.. welcome back
Of course, family takes priority. In situations like this, you never seem to have enough time and find yourself rushing to get things done but there are always more things to be done than time to do them in.
We all wish your father a peaceful and painless end when his time comes
I'm sure we all feel a little guilty at giving you another diversion but as Dave has said.. nothing is detracting from our overall enjoyment of the Anson package

Francois - welcome back and glad to see you here ! As I said on your forum, best wishes to your and your father. It must be a difficult time for you. Our thoughts are with you, without a doubt.
Yes, the lack of pitch change when you alter the flaps makes life a lot easier. Its quite a relief after some models. I still haven't managed a bad landing in this thing - its a pity they didn't have P3D at Biggin Hill when I did my aircrew aptitude test at age 16. I'd be Tonks' C.O. by now.

I've had a closer look at this ( I've got a day off - you can tell, can't you ).The gear sound, clunk to clunk, lasts 4 seconds, but most of the models' gear animation lasts 35 seconds, with the Anson Nineteen taking 10 seconds. As you say, you can't see it from inside, or hear it outside, but I wonder if the sound effect can be 'stretched out' so to speak ? It would be nice to have it right, if possible.I've had dvd's out this morning as well as trawling the net trying to get to the bottom of the gear sound you mentioned. Re: FSAddon Avro Anson
35 seconds.. is it that long?
What the hell was I looking at then?
I'm sure the sound could be edited to last longer but it would have to be done by someone with the right editing tools. 35 seconds seems incredibly long. I'll have to have another look
EDIT: I've just had a look at the MkXI and that took around 35secs. Is this simulating the hand-crank time do you think?
