Dale,
thanks very much for the info - I managed to catch the 757 offer at 5 a.m. today, presumably since their servers weren't being updated automatically on the date change. I also grabbed a copy of the voucher for the 146, but won't be able to progress that until the weekend when I have a chance to re-install FS9 - hopefully the Flight1 system and voucher aren't time / purchase date dependent.

For the 146, I'm not sure what happens about updates and fixes being applied through the Flight1 system, since the download from their website doesn't seem to have been updated recently. In particular, the download I collected some months ago was before the recent release of the RJ models (or was it the 146 models ?), and the current download seems to be exactly the same file. If this is so, how do I make sure I get both 146 and RJ models for both FSX and FS9 ?

Oh, by the way, the price of the 757 for UK buyers is $24 because of VAT ... plus of course currency exchange charges !

Thanks again for the info,
regards,
Ro

Glad to have helped
Not too sure we exactly what I've downloaded as it was a bit of a rush to get it before the voucher expired Not sure at the time even if it would be accepted and if I could / would bomb out of the purchase :worried: Did see that fs9 version during the purchase could be installed I think using the key but didn't take too much notice as I don't have fs9.
Its installed 5 or 6 or so variants into fsx all in qw livery Took out the early 146 for a quick test all analogue gauges Looks and fly's well and is complex enough for me

That latest versions can be downloaded from the QW website here: http://qwsim.flight1.net/forums/ultimat ... &PR=3.html

If you haven't got the 146 versions, best get the full package download. There's also a small hotfix available as well.

DaveG,
thanks for that link, which I actually found on their home page earlier today but after posting above. I'm in the middle of downloading the full v1.4 file for FSX and P3D at the moment.

Assuming that I can still take advantage of the discount, which I'll test by installing the v1.3 FS9 files, I can then install the v1.4 update, followed by the complete FSX version later when things are less hectic and I've had a chance to re-install FSX. I'm assuming here that the Flight1 wrapper actually checks for an FS installation before the purchasing system kicks in ...

Thanks again to both of you for your help here,
regards,
Ro

Ro..

When you install an update (like the QW146 for example.. full version).. download the file then when you double click on the download.. it goes to F1. You need your original password handy (usually the last 4 digits of your credit card) then select 'Reinstall'. It'll unwrap the new file and not re-charge you :)

QW advise removal of the old files before putting the new version on :)

Not quite sure what happens if QW issue an update (read fix). I've only ever downloaded new, full versions from F1.

DaveB,
The link given by DaveG above points to both complete v1.4 files and updates that can be applied to either Flight1 v1.3 downloads or to DVD v1.2 installs; also presumably any DVD installs that have already been updated to v1.3.

Thanks for the advice about uninstalling before upgrading - I'll have to decide whether to use the complete v1.4 file or the v1.3-v1.4 update file later ...

I was browsing the QW manuals earlier, and was rather surprised that there's not one word about installation for either plane. Similarly, you can't even browse the 146 support forums until you've bought and installed the plane, though I suppose I can understand the argument of "why would you want to" to some extent.

Anyway, first priority is to install FS9 and find my FS9.1 update, then try my luck with the Flight1 system ...

Thanks again for your input,
Regards,
Ro

Hi Ro :hello:

I have to say it's more 'user friendly' having individual updates posted on the QW site than having to go through the rigmarole of uninstalling and downloading again via F1. I nearly didn't get the last 'full' version as my password (credit card details) had changed and I couldn't find the original. Also.. I found (through trial and error) that Malwarebytes was causing a problem with a .dll for the model. This caused me to have to download it more times than necessary (from F1) before I found the problem. I now have zero downloads remaining 8)

To be honest.. the original works fine for me in FS9 so I'm not gonna bother again. As for FSX.. my current system can't run it unless I fly out of Wake Island with everything turned off. I'll give it another try when I complete my upgrade project.. that is if F1 will let me download/reinstall it again 8)

Hei, DaveB,
It sounds like I should try the update from QW then the re-install F1 method on my one and only F1 product to date, the panel editor (FSPS ???). But first I need to find my key files that I safely stored away somewhere, if only I could remember where that was ...

In fact, I thought I still had that installed on one of my netbooks but it seems I was wrong about that, hence the impending hunt. Hope my trusty library listings help ...
:guinn:

Time for bed I think, having now graduated from a one spot Meteor to a two spot Viscount ...
