Rgr that Peter

I'd certainly not try anything like the Icon A5 RC model as a beginner unless I had a shed load of cash and could afford the breakages. The thing you don't realise with RC models.. even ones like the Champ, is the speed they go. The Champ is quite easy in calm winds (eg, almost zero) but becomes challenging in light, gusty conditions. It's weight and lift mean it can be flown quite slowly but I doubt you'd get the same response from the Icon which as Eddie pointed out, has quite short, stubby wings and needs the speed to keep it in the air.. like his Wildcat
I'm sure you'd master it in short order Peter. Coordination is what you need and you have that

I'd not go for the Icon as a first model though.. something like the Champ or Cub are perfect.. perhaps the EZ Hawk that Eddie had too though that looked markedly faster than either the Champ or Cub
The FSX Icon model falls short of the MS Flight version internally Peter. I landed on the sea and spent a while watching it bob up and down then went inside to find the AI was misplaced.. due I reckon to the up and down motion in FSX! There's a nice photoreal 2D panel available for it which I may just try. Looking at how you're able to fly through loops in 'Flight'.. I think the FSX model lacks performance. Still, it looks like an Icon and it's amphibious so it'll do

Oh.. as Garry mentioned above, there's no pilot which looks darned odd if you ask me!
