Garry,
Thanks for that link, lots of bits I've not seen before.
I think the fuselage going up in flames must have been the wooden mock up that resided in one of the old Hawker hangars over by the Byfleet gate.

One thing that struck me was the amout the elevators changed during takeoff...flapping about a bit to keep it stable *-)

Thought I would post this, now I know a lot of folks don't like the Real video player for various reasons, but this incarnation has a widget which adds a tool in IE and allows the d/l of YouTube videos. With careful installation you don't need to let it take over your preferred video viewer.

http://www.real.com/realdownloader

I have found it really useful when like here we get a link to a vid and not the time to view it and of course my brain will forget all about the link unless I d/l at the time.

Garry, elevator flapping - the F35 is just as bad if not worse, & I remember the Vanguard 1st flight ailerons were flappy too!
I suspect the pilot was checking the response at that speed & hence the artificial feel response.

On the F-35 and indeed the F-16 it's because the flight computers are trying to keep the aircraft level while taxiing over uneven ground, as the pilot hasn't asked it to do anything it tries to fight the ground moving it around. You could tie it into the weight on wheels switch but that would cause way more problems on take off if it got stuck.

I was thinking more of the computer holodng it at the requested angle rather than pilot imput. *-)

Just an observation really :)

Looks like it, bit more info here - http://www.thunder-and-lightnings.co.uk ... istory.php

I have seen a old clip of (I think) Nationwide where models were wearing jewellery made out of TSR2 parts.
