That's the same problem we have here Eric. Upstairs, there are 5 bedrooms, a living room, 3 bathrooms, a kitchen, an office and a walk-in wardrobe (let's not forget the walk-in wardrobe)!! Outside, 2 sheds.. 1 of which housed the bike and all it's associated gear.. the other housed the lawnmower. All of these were full of stuff! Our house in the Midlands has a modest living room, dining room, cubbyhole under the stairs for the hoover, a tiny kitchen, a pantry you couldn't swing a mouse around in and upstairs, 3 bedrooms and a tiny bathroom. On the step (through the back door) is a coalhouse, shed and outside loo which freezes every winter! Something has had to give Thank goodness Dad cleared the loft out years ago! We've just had it insulated to the latest standard (2 weeks ago) and it was a crying shame to have to peel half of this back to lay decking but sadly.. there was no other option. I could really do with a lottery win to build an extension

Outside loo eh!!

Hope you have an inside one as well or your certainly going to get your assets frozen

It's not outside outside if you see what I mean. As you open the back door, there's a passageway.. coal house to the left.. loo straight ahead and shed to the left. It's all brick and part of the house but.. it was only built single brick thickness The loo has frozen every year I can remember and this year has been no exception.. it's already on the list of 'things to do' I turned the b1oody water off too! SWMBO wants the shed and loo knocked into one.. the loo removed and the large space turned into some sort of utility room. I'll get my coat!

The last place I lived in was like that...I think

The loo and coal shed was an extension and on stepping out of the back door the loo door was on the right the coal ahead and an open doorway outside to the left. The actual loo was alongside the coal house but longer to have the doorway as described

Very cold , but the upstairs bathroom had had a loo fitted.

My ex wife crew up in the house and in those days there was a gas ascot over the bath but no inside toilet and no other hot water in the house.

The hot water was added with the bath in about 1984

Still she did better than one of her school friends who lived in a house that didn't have electricity until the 1980's

Everything was gas, but no main hot water and no fridge.

Years ago, the passageway outside the back door had your standard 'shed door' type doors (the same that are still on the loo, shed and coal house) with a latch and bolt to stop outsiders getting in. Fortunately, dad had those ripped out just before our next door neighbour (to the right) moved. He was a chippy by trade and did a fine job of putting proper doors on with 5 lever locks and twin dead bolts. I'd like to say it's made the whole place warmer but I can't be sure. It's secure now but still bloody cold There's no power out there at all but up there, I have a gallon of cousins.. one of which is an electrician and is waiting to put in whatever I want I'll have to pay him in beer mind!
