Now this shows the size of the problem.

some may have to scroll down a bit.
I saw the Spa is 65,000 sq feet on two levels (that's an acre and a Half! -
almost!) which certainly doesn't run from bow to stern.
I wonder how many acres it would cover if all the floor space was laid out. Imagine that.
I never liked'm really - cruise ships. I did a few photo shoots for groups on the night cruises from Ft. Lauderdale.
Too confining for me. I want the option of picking up and Go when I want.
(btw Paul K , I did shoot the photos
)

110,000 tonnes of anything isn't to be scoffed at!

Re: De Falco vs. Schettino
I don't think he should be prosecuted now as he cannot be guaranteed a fair trial

Besides, who will be willing to prosecute the captain after learning the poor bastard tripped and fell into that raft which then slipped off the ship, narrowly escaping being kilt.
Didn't Monty Python do a bit on something like that.

Re: De Falco vs. Schettino
The leaking of testimony or evidence in criminal cases here is so common place that I didn't even notice it until Gary made the point.
If it wasn't for the Costa Concordia I'm sure the current big news story here would be the trial of the alleged murderers of Sarah Scazzi a 15 year old from Puglia. On trial are her female cousin and her aunt. The point is that for the past year there have been endless publication of parts of the accused's statements to police and their letters and diaries. Plus appearances on TV by her uncle who was the first to be charged with the murder (plus paedophilia and necrophilia) but who has since been released. He still claims he's guilty.
Or many may remember the unflattering comments made by a recent Italian Prime Minister about another European head of state. Comments which were made in a private phone conversation recorded as part of an enquiry into financial or personal misdemeanors. How did they get into the public domain?
However, here one does not get tried by a jury of one's peers but by a panel of judges who are presumably impervious to pre-trial speculation.
I hope Fran will correct me if I'm wrong.
