The film also includes BEA so I guess the Rapide link is the side of the BA heritage

G-ADCN Dave ?
I think it was G-AIYR with a paint job for the film. Can't find out what the other one really was.
I did recognise Old Warden though.
Can't have too much reality creeping into commercials can we ?
Cheers

Indeed not DaveMolyned wrote: Can't have too much reality creeping into commercials can we ?
Remembering the campaign....."British Airways the World favourite airline"...a wonderful example of pure fiction

Dave.. the Rapide 'in shot' (Silver with Imperial wording on the nose) has G-ADCN painted on the rear fuse which is/was an Express not a Rapide. If there's another in the film, it just goes to show I can't watch youtube films and the tv at the same time
AIYR is an obvious choice as it's one of the few 'flyers' wearing silver (though ADCN shows no sign of the yellow band)

Dave - I found this shot on Flicker - the tagline at the bottom suggests that it is indeed G-AIYR

And as for the second aircraft - it's here in the background, taking off.

However, it's reg seems also to be G-ADCN
which strongly suggests some jiggery-pokery with digital stuff.

Yes indeed. I got a link to what I thought was 'the' BA ad on PPrune last week and it's not like any of the ones I've seen today.. though similar. I really must have presumed too much as I'm sure the second Rapide isn't in the PPrune link.
Here.. I've found the link I got sent.. hopefully, you don't have to be a PPrune member to see it.. http://www.pprune.org/aviation-history- ... tween.html
Note.. I was watching TV while looking at the PPrune thread too so don't expect too much

You are right Dave - it doesn't appear in the stuff you watched.
Gents - if you look at that youtube advert 'New BA TV ad, complete with VC10!' - in the right-hand side-bar is a piece called - 'British Airways the making of our advert' you'll see near the end just how much C.G.I. stuff was used. As you say Tonks - 'it's not real'

Saw the ad for the first time this evening and I have to say a like it. However........................as an ex BCAL employee it would have been nice to see a BCAL DC10 and 1-11 thrown into the mix or dare I say a sandstone & blue BUA VC10
If God had meant us to fly, he would have given us tickets.
