Great stuff Garry.....it's hard to tell but I think there were some very white knuckles at the flare

Have I been missing something? I didn't think DM's Ten had a full autoland? :dunno:

I does Ben of sorts...well I use to use it down to touchdown then take over.....I don't think DM's has autoflare :worried: :hide:

Might just be the ILS beam I was using and being brave

It was never as sophisticated as the Tridents IRL..AKAIK

The Trident is always the one shown with autoland and the VC 10 having it gets ignored in popular reporting.

Always been known about but rarely seen :)

You have Ben.
FLARE
Performs a full autoland using ILS beams, with auto flare & throttle cut before touchdown.
Auto throttle speeds & flap settings still need to be set manually.
Using this mode, the model will follow the ILS down onto the runway. It will perform a flare, cut the throttle back to idle and land gently.
In FS, this auto land function is now 100% reliable in pitch (the auto flare) & can even cope with over or underspeed landings. However, as with all automated ILS approaches in FS, it is prone to directional errors if there is a strong crosswind.
If you are using auto throttle during landing, it is advisable to close your joystick/yoke throttle in FS. If you do not do this, the throttle setting from your joystick/yoke can unexpectedly register after auto throttle is turned off
from DM's VC10 manual.

I know because I asked the same question here some time ago.

My party trick Gary is hand flying the landing and forgetting to disengage the auto throttle. :wall: :wall:

It's the use of the term "Flare" that's confusing. It might have been a surface to air missile defence system anticipating the day when ill intentioned scallywags can get hold of such things. :dunno:

I think it may have been back in 2004? that it didn't do the full autoland, so I haven't tried since! that will teach me to keep up to speed! :worried:
