Very nice Peter, the I7 920 Has great legs as well it easy to overclock it to up to 4ghz on air and with that huge cooler that would be a piece of cake!!
I was always worried about overclocking but AMD BE chips and the Intel 17's make it easy and pretty safe to do so as long as you follow the guides. ;)

Ah but Dave you can always turn around to SWMBO and say... look what I didn't do; I've saved hundreds of pounds!

I've started a slow but steady campaign to upgrade something or other for Christmas (not sure what I can get away with at the moment - depends on December prices).

Regards,
Chris

Fair comment Chris. At least I'm in a position to enjoy what I have and not in hospital :D

Ben...the first sentence and the first picture of my post reveals that. Also the third picture shows the card in its anti-static wrapper resting on the square brown cardboard, foam lined box that it came in (on the left of the picture). There was no manual or CD in the box...Just the graphics card. The box just has "285" inked on the lid.

Anyway, it makes Glacier Bay look very beautiful and seems to run at 75 FPS in FS9 unless looking at something very intensive. My "No Limits Roller Coaster" program runs the whole time at 100 FPS, but I think that is the highest number it will show :)

Yes Peter the no limits Roller Coaster seems locked at 100fps max, I even tried it with FRAPS but it still showed 100.
I think the 285 card will not be a disapointment to you, I have been really happy with my 260 card and thats a lot less powerfull than your beast :)

That looks a very nice rig you have there Peter :)

I've been toying with the idea of replacing my 9800GTX with a GTX285. I don't think Ill be able to resist for much longer as my current card is starting to struggle with some new games at the resolution I play at. Just a quick question just how big is the card really? I have a Coolermaster ATC-201 that is a truly magnificent case, but was designed for year 2000 hardware :) My current card is already rather a tight fit...

WOW, fantastic Peter...you have just sunk me further into a depressive state on seeing that!! :'(

Will now wait to see if at anytime in the future Tony, Ben or those who are now fully fledged members of 'The Dark Side' will tempt you over. *-)

Regards
Nigel.
