Re: What sim are we all using most?
FS9 runs pretty fast on my PC now, however I think it is the Horizon the photo scenery at hi-res that makes me fly FSX more. I hate FSX in default mode (which is why it took me years to cross over), but flying over the UK (with a 1.500 000 aero chart for company) is pretty much 'as real as it gets' for me. Now with 70% of English and Welsh airfields up graded, I am a happy bunny. It is just a shame I will have to wait until next year to fly much further north than Nottingham

I'm the one (so far) who voted that I hardly use either nowadays! Although I've had a couple of goes in the last fortnight, I've just lost interest somewhere.
When I do 'fly', it is only FSX. I think my loss of interest might be due to the lack of decent add-ons for FSX, compared to FS9. This leads to trying to import FS9 models which usually leads to disappointment in one way or another! I must mention that DM's Trident upgrade is a notable exception to this!
Also, performance can still be frustrating. Although I have a Q6600, the rest of the system doesn't really match up, and I'm convinced that FSX will not really scale up in performance until clock speed increases (rather than adding more cores). And I have neither the will or financial means to spend lots of money on an upgrade at the moment.

Interesting chat. I would offer a word of caution on the Windows 7 info thats flying about. There are some bugs in the user interface for FSX and FS9 with the current public release of Windows 7 Release Candidate, so its not suggested that its used for your main FS computer at the moment. Its not clear if these will be fixed before the release of the full version in October, so tread carefuly.
Ben.

FSX only here. Can't recall the last time I flew FS9, and I never installed it on my current PC.
It would have been good to have extra options for only, rather than just mostly, as Rick suggested. Great poll though.

The real thing behind this is simple... FSX out of the box, not great... FS9 out of the box with FREE ADD-ONS can look a whole lot better and be kinder to you and the PC, sort of wins hands down ;-)Since you can get the two confused, that means that FSX is a better sim out of the box, while FS9 is definitely great for those whom have had it since the beginning and have all the good mods installed (versus people who might not have had FS9 and don't know or can't get those mods).

What bugs? The only one I've found is adding scenery you need to right click the source folder not left click it.
Re: What sim are we all using most?
For the last three years I have checked the comparative percentages using FS9 and FSX for competitors in the Bluegrass/DVFC Australian Rallies. Each event has attracted over 100 entries from around the world and the majority are still using FS9 - pretty much in line with the figures above.
Of course that could be because the events are aimed at aircraft from the piston era, so the bias in the audience may be similar to these hallowed halls.
Seeing Garry's comment about stopping development for FS9 if he moved on to FSX - could be time to organise a raiding party to hide Garry's piggy bank.
