Re: When Air Travel Was Still Fun!
OK Guys,
I'm going to stick my neck out here, but I think it's Croydon. The silhouette of the building on the left looks very much like the architecture of the Croydon CT. There is a gallery around the tower at contoller level as well as a sort of parapet atop with an aerial at each corner. The shadow on the ground looks like one of the aerials.

Regards
John

Well mate.. it started life as an RAF field with a traditional 'A' format. Difficult to tell exactly where that shot is taken from

D'oh..
Passed in the post again
I'd agree John that Croydon would be ideal. I don't see that shadow you're talking about though.. I only see one off the Freighters wings :o The steps parked against the curbs look good and I've always favoured the layout being for 2 main runways.. one going left to right and the other going out from where the shot is taken.
Although not a problem for Daks.. I thought Croydon was too small for Lancastrians (though it was a BOAC maint base)
Keep em coming ;-)

Hi Garry,
The shadow I'm looking at is bottom right just to the right of the couple walking towards camera.

Re: When Air Travel Was Still Fun!
I think John is correct with his Croydon guess. Take a look at the distinctive little bits of concrete in each pic of Croydon.
