Replacement FSX ground textures needed

Any suggestions? My FSX has just ticked over to Autumn and it's all gone a horrible mucky brown colour. The world just simply doesn't go brown in Europe, even in Winter, whilst FSX is adamant that it does. Are there any decent pieces of freeware or payware out there that will replace the ground textures with something slightly more suitable than the dirty brown FSX default ones?

I'm sure there are a much better set freeware at allnodes and Avsim. Can't recall the name now but do a search on here and it'll probably throw it out for you ;-) DO NOT BUY FSSCENE textures for FSX.. they're different but no better than the default :roll:

Thanks Dave. I picked up the eight part pack and they are a major improvement for every season, however the "fall" and winter textures now leave me with some horrendous pixelating where the green meets the tan colour undearneath the airfields. Rather bizarre.

It is slightly bizarre that ACES went to the trouble of defining Europe separately from North America for terrain texture purposes, and then used the same ones anyway.

Funnily enough the bizarre sand coloured/green pixelation I get is exactly the same as shown on a screenshot FSCene use to advertise their product:

I'm wondering if it's something to do with the sim. To be honest if I could find where that bizarre sandy tan coloured "dead grass" texture lives (I'm assuming it's supposed to be dead grass) then I'd just replace it with a green grass texture however I can't track the blighter down.

Tks Chris I'm not sure about the green in that last shot (looks like excess Fisons Evergreen 80!) but the others don't look too bad. Much better than FSScene (which lasted all of 15mins - if that - on my pc) though I'd like to have seen more urban shots ;-)

I quite like the fact that they aren't just colour changes but also bring a lot of depth and detail to the textures. I've even spotted things like flowers on some of the grass textures very low down.
