Just to remind you that Brooklands is holding it's Centenary of Aviation celebration next Saturday (7th June). Lot's of things are planned which include a flypast of our Vimy from Dunsfold.. the public unveiling of our newly built Roe and for those with a eye for real aircraft.. Vickers Vanguard Merchantman G-APEP will be doing an engine run We plan to get all 4 running but haven't had enough fuel for a test run so fingers, eyes, arms and legs crossed on the day ;-)
There was me thinking I'd been clever in negotiating a trip to the Double Twelve event at the end of the month with SWMBO and my daughter - in exchange for various gardening feats of combat (SWMBO Junior is not much for the green fingers)
A bit of additional info..
We're hoping to do 2 runs.. one at 1145 and the second at 1445. Unless we get additional fuel.. they're likely to be short and sharp but we'll run for as long as possible ;-) We have the offer of 200gals from Lasham which would be just perfect but we don't have any means of getting it to Brooklands so if any of you have a tanker handy.. let me know ;-) Dunsfold have offered us fuel but they want 68p ltr :o
I can't remember what info there is on the Brooklands site but there will be a 30min airshow starting at 1700. The Vimy will be in attendance (wx permitting) and as her annual hours are very restricted.. it'll be worth seeing ;-) This will be the last show ever at Brooklands iaw agreement between the museum management and the CAA :-(
Looking forward to seeing as many of you as poss from CBFS. Pity we can't get T-Shirst made
