Was fantastic, couldn't believe how light the controls were, wouldn't have been a good idea to have have used the controls the same way i do in flightsim, would have been all over the show.
I didn't want the flight to stop,i just wanted to continue flying it all day,but i don't think the other people that had payed to do the flight as well would have been to keen if i did so.
Got a certificate when we landed to say that i have took the controls of a Harvard in flight and pilots note book on the T6/Harvard also a poster which was signed by the pilot, and a video of the flight.
Something i will always remember. :flying:
Regards Gerry.
wow.....looks like you had a wonderful time and in a nice aeroplane too!
The T-6 has a lot of charm and character and is and was a wonderful training aeroplane. I've yet to find anything in the sim world that replicates its handling though.
I've flown in this very example on a number of occasions and it is a rather interesting machine. Rebuilt in 1949 from an unknown AT-6 or SNJ, it saw service with the USAF until 1955 when it was one of three that were purchased by the Haitian Air Force. Used by them until the mid 1980s, it was imported into the States and then was bought by the late Paul Morgan and based at Sywell. It now wears the colours that it would have worn in USAF service.
Glad you enjoyed the experience....I will always remember my first Harvard flight.
Small world! I was fortunate enough to have a short trip not long after Paul Morgan sadly died. Unfortunately when I flew there was no rear seat belt fitted so I was secured using a length of rope! A lack of seat belt wasn't going to let me miss out on that opportunity!
