Thw alarm.... the sudden camera angle change at touchdown..... and the lack of swearing

And yet the approach doesn't seem to be the long slow setup you would think with an incident

I Suspect they knew what was about to happen.

I reckon it was a practice gear up landing, although WHY you would want to is beyond me.

The Gear up warning horn was loud enough as well so you would have though they might of heard it.

Its been along time since I flew in a Cessna single retractable but it doesnt sound like the gear warning on older models.
Plus several things dont make sense

As Garry said if it was planned- then why make such a short final, why land on concrete when there is grass (its less
expensive) and why didn't they pull the trick of stopping the prop and cycling the starter until it was horizontal?

The noise actually sounds like a wheel pant that has come loose or even a sticking brake

Plus there is not that horrible noise as the prop strikes concrete and destroys itself and quite frequently the engine

and one final thing - Cessnas when they are landed gear up tend to fall over onto one wing tip as they come to rest

just my opinion btw

That is a better explanation than I can give not being a pilot.....with me it just seems wrong.

One other thing

If I had filmed that then it would be really special and newsworthy so I would have filmed the outside in a general scene and the damage even if it was a day or too later..

Also no hurry to leave.

Now that it has been mentioned, it now also confuses me as to why the prop wasn't stopped.

I think your right Garry, theres more to this then we are seeing.

After doing a bit of sniffing around on the net, I've found out it was an accident.

Heres a quote from the pilot:

From Paul Wingo:

"There was a snow storm approaching in about an hour and we were doing a check ride. Because of possible ice, we had been flying with the gear down the entire time. We started doing touch and goes after a while. Habit when you take off is to raise the gear. This is what happened. So, when we come around, they were conversing and what not and simply forgot the gear was up. The prop got bent up pretty bad along with the belly of the plane." (less)
