Armstrong-Whitworth Albemarle

Post by AndyG »

A swift 'heads up'. Over at the Outhouse, in the CFS2 section, a very rare bird indeed in the form of the Albemarle, from William Dickens (bismarck13).

It will work in FS9, although the FDE is going to need looking at. Looks nice, definitely needs a repaint (see his Readme file  ) and probably the only example of this overlooked workhorse we will ever see in FS.

Any 'gurus' fancy taking up the tinkering with FDE and paint scheme? It will surely be the only one of these ever released for FS.

Not yet.

The partial answer to your question Trev is that I am looking at a couple of repaints, a Russian job and a D-Day striped one. Reference material is as rare as the proverbial hen's teeth (if anybody has anything btw  ) but I found a couple of profiles at wings.ru and I'll work from them.

I'm not really an FDE man, so I hope somebody else will pick up that challenge (Del? ), at the very least the contact points will need some work.

Here are some screenshots (for what they are worth), I guess things have moved on a lot since CFS2. I could only just about get it into the air....and then struggled to keep it there, hence the ropey shots!

The current scheme is a work of pure fiction!

Not total fiction Trev, the codes are actually correct although in entirely the wrong font style!!

Yep, I had the same problems keeping it flying, the FDE definitely needs a tweak. But overall it is a good model, just needs some work to bring it up to FS9 standards.
