Hi

Dave thank you for your thoughts about fsX.
I believe that if we count the releases of new products at Avsim and Flightsim at the moment they are still more numerous for FS9 than for fsX.

It seems to me that fsX has been release to appeal to a wider range of people: the gaming brigade, the family man and so on. Shouldn't Micro$oft have released fsX for its right platform?? XBOX.

They could save their face and go back to fs9 and develop it for better textures, better dynamics and so forth. And leave the mission ridden fsX for the Xbox stuff. After all both products have an X.

The guys at HJG, Calclassic and others are still using FS2004 for many reasons. Personally I flight simulators that do their stuff without trying to be anything else: FS98, FS2002 and FS2004. And I used all of them.

PS. Does the X mark the spot?

PPS. Great planes don't need vc's. Besides this one has already one: VC-10, one of the most gorgeous aircraft ever built. Thanks Mr. Maltby.

Best wishes

I must concur with Garry, I don't see the need for a VC for the VC.

What I really need is a way to get those damn starters to work in FSX still havne't got around to get that solved despite numerous attempts... along with the Speed- and Altitude-hold on the AP.

Apart from that I have all I need, and as you all know, she's the only aircraft in my selectionlist, and the only aircraft I fly. Apart from that "my skies" are only filled with AI.

And if the road ends with FS9, is it really worth investing any more time in it now? :dunno:
Well, only you can be the judge of that Mr Maltby sir (tugs forelock in deference) but there are an awful lot of people staying with FS9 at the moment, including quite a number of developers and designers.

Actually, at the extreme, you have people like 'Payakan' (his real name escapes me at the moment, is it Richard?) still producing for FS2002 as that is what he uses - if his aircraft work in FS9, that is a bonus but not really his concern!! Some of his recent WW2 Luftwaffe stuff at Nonodes now makes for very nice AI on my Golden Wings setup!

My own M.52 is being designed with FS9 in mind, as I don't have FSX, don't intend to have FSX for the foreseeable so don't see why I should bother. When it gets to beta stage i may well ask some who have crossed to the Dark Side to give it a spin, but I'm not going out of my way to make it FSX compatible.

You have been kind enough, over the years, to provide us with some of the best UK heavy metal for a variety of flavours of MSFS. You, Rick and his team, DG and so many others have poured heart and soul into these projects, a fact that humbles me; I only hope I can start to give something back to the community myself.

So, is it worth investing anymore time? Only if you want to, not if we want you to. If you don't, then I will happily continue to fly the beauties you have given us so far; if you do, can I put in a request for that 1-11 used for testing the F-22 radar!!

Thanks,

AndyG
