Thanks guys

As I've just said to Garry via PM.. no other age has bothered me. Fifty didn't bother me.. until today and now it does  Don't ask me why cause I'm not really sure except that it's probably a psycological thing. In your 40's.. theres still a good chance you might be able to double your years (omitting the last digit the closer to 50 you get of course.ggggg) but at 50.. there's no turning back.

Anyway.. enough feeling sorry for myself. Two more stalwarts of CBFS reach this grand old age this year (no clues but their initials are GR and TM) so I look forward to the youngster (TM) joining the club as I won't feel so alone with 3 of us in the same boat  No.. there may be four as a certain DelP is already there

Here's one for your resolve Dave
and for all of us really
Whislt you have grown another year older
my father this past friday, Passed away
never to celebrate another
but thats ok.... He lived a full life, my dad
a good and fair honest man , really.
And a good dad to me and my family
having grown now and realizing that People are People
Even when in the case of our parents , eh?
ya can't want for more than that

so during our times of pondering ...."whats this whole shabang about"

I think it's rather simple
Live. Do well unto others and remember, this is what lifes about

It's that look that was on peters face
you saw this past weekend mate

I didn't write this Below but I tought it might be
fitting
:dunno:

Pondering old age
How do I know that my youth is all spent?
Well, my get up and go has got up and went.
But in spite of it all I am able to grin
when I recall where my get up has been.

Old age is golden-so I've heard it said-
but sometimes I wonder when I get into bed,
with my ears in a drawer and my teeth in a cup,
my eyes on the table until I wake up.

Ere sleep dims my eyes I say to myself,
"Is there anything else I should lay on the shelf?"
And I'm happy to say as I close my door,
my friends are the same, perhaps even more.

When I was young, my slippers were red,
I could pick up my heels right over my head.
When I grew older, my slippers were blue,
but still I could dance the whole night through.

But now I am old, my slippers are black,
I walk to the store and puff my way back.
The reason I know my youth is all spent,
my get up and go has got up and went.

But I really don't mind when I think, with a grin,
of all the grand places my get up has been.
Since I have retired from life's competition,
I accommodate myself with complete repetition.

I get up each morning, and dust off my wits,
pick up my paper and read the "obits".
If my name is missing, I know I'm not dead,
so I eat a good breakfast and go back to bed.

...............and sory for being mushy

Happy Birthday Dave, hope you enjoy this once in a life-time experience!!

If it's any consolation being 55 years old I have now got used to it, in fact, the wife says she hasn't noticed any difference in me from when we first met!!   :huf:
I used to be an optimist but with age I am now a grumpy old pessimist.
