I used to be an optimist but with age I am now a grumpy old pessimist.

Just heard on the news that the British government had recommended that the Iranians do not display the men blind folded like they did with the guys back in 2004.

Any reaction from Dubya yet? Given the current tensions this looks to have the potential to escalate

My guess is that GWB will do whatever Blair asks. No matter how egregious the actions, they were against British troops, and Bush wouldn't strain his relationship with Blair by taking action or saying anything that would make Blair look incapable of dealing with the issue himself.

There is absolutely no evidence to support this at all. Perhaps Seaking can explain what is so credible about Iran's spokesman's pronouncements

In a BBC interview former First Sea Lord, Sir Alan West said that British service personnel in such situations were advised to just go along with whatever their captors want.

Quote: " Don't tell them secrets, clearly, but if they tell you: 'Say this', well if that's going to get you out, then do it. It means absolutely nothing, what they say to be honest. "

I think their admission of being in Iranian territorial waters is no more than that.
