For the nit-pickers ... ;-)

Post by DanKH »

What's wrong with this?

0.12v$/100nm x Distance ( 3085nm ) x Cargo ( 7650kg ) = 27437v$

or even:

0.12v$/100nm x 3085nm x 7650kg = 27437v$

I back calculated the cargo rate at 0.11626v$/100nm. I think flynet calculates the total and then back calculates the rate. So to me this sounds like a rounding error.

The problem with this equation is the units !

If you are using units in an equation you should do it consequently.

The correct equation should look like this:

0.12v$/100nm x 3085nm x 7650kg = 27437v$kg

Or you should implicit realise that the 0.12v$ is in fact 0.12v$/kg thus:

0.12v$/kg/100nm x 3085nm x 7650kg = 27437v$

So it was a nit-picker joke....

I'll get my coat.....

 Sorry, its been a while since I had to sit down with a physics problem and figure out all the units in an equation.

Well you should, think about it as differences in pennies and pounds ;-)

Makes quite a difference!
