Another black spot
Many years ago, when FS2002 was the current FS, I recall a zip from either Flightsim or avsim which purported to replace the faulty European VORs. It is still available, or was yesterday. I have not bothered to download that zip for there have been very few flights in the last three months that I would have made use of such a file in FS9.
I did download it and use it when I had FS2002 running on my computer and it did seem to remove the problem of navigating in the Liege area and in some areas in France.
I think that I would now be very wary of using that file with FS9.

Hi Hobby,
As luck would have it, my return from Frankfurt Main to LHR in the VC10 actually routed me on the infamous BUE-LGE-AFI-KOK run and having installed the AIRAC 0608 file to FSNav.. I got through ok. I have a feeling that at least one of the NDB's in the area has been renamed by the patch and this may have helped. I held my breath as I went smack-bang over OLN and then on to LGE but thankfully, no problem.
As for the return flight from Carthage.. I've just landed there and hope to do the return later this evening. I noted on the way down that my final VOR on the European mainland was St Tropez and it was here I had problems last time. Will report back on completion but it does look like the AIRAC file sorts out whatever the problems were with the original database
I'll have to try a few more times before I'm comfortable but thus far, at least the BUE-LGE-AFI-KOK area appears safe

Tks for the prod Dan and tks for your wishes Hobby
I doubt my landing will be any smoother on the return at LHR as Carthage recorded 0fpm
Check out the runway there if you get a chance. It's one of those odd ones that looks like tarmac but feels like you've landed on a waterbed.. not that I know what that actually feels like!!

that navdata site used to provide them for free, but when the official provider (DAFIF) closed the public availability navdata went over to thedark side....so the lates free one (a compilation for flightsimmers use) is 0608 (number 8, 2006)
it is a dataset that contains all sorts of aeronautical data about VOR's NDB's aerodormes etc. etc...

Hi John,
In theory, it shouldn't make any difference whatsoever as FSNav uses the flightsim database so you could say that if there's a problem, it was there all along. I'm not convinced loading up the Airac data has solved the problem but the proof of the pudding is in the eating. I don't have time at the mo to flash up my return flight but should this go well too.. it certainly looks like whatever corruption I had has been corrected.
I just noticed that my return flight will break the 600hr VA mark!!

Well actually it could screw the interchange of VOR-names between FSNav and FS, if FS has one abbreviation and FSNAV uses another you have a conflict. and we all know how good FS is to recapitulate from conflicts...not very good errorhandling technique in my beliefs...
Btw. you still have .3 hrs to go :-) break-a-leg

Hi Team,
Well.. I broke the 600hr mark (again!) but it was to no avail.. the flight bugged out. I kept a close eye on the FSNav navtrac and the flight failed shortly after passing GAP enroute TDP (previous waypoints Rufus and Le Luc in that order).
It's now almost 20mins to 3 in the morning and I've had enough so I'll rerun the return flight in a few hours time.. bypassing GAP by some margin. Seems that the Airac update is not the answer to our problem after all
