The RAM issue is that a 32-bit OS (any 32-bit OS) can only see 4 GB of memory. Windows makes this worse by reserving 1 GB for its own private use and not letting other programs even see it, let alone use it. So if you have a 8GB system, going back to XP 32-bit would just be throwing half your memory ...
