Re: Sea Hawk A/P

Post by hobby »

Hi DaveB

Shall spend a bit of time flying with A/P engaged this week although I much prefer to use the simpler standard A/P in the supplied default radio block.

Re: Sea Hawk Autopilot

Post by hobby »

For DaveB:

I shall spend a bit more time practicing with autopilot although I prefer to use what seems top me to be the simpler autopilot in the supplied radio block.

I must admit that I was confused by the left hand knob which I usually use on an autopilot for the nav course, the right hand knob I usually use to set my required heading. For example when setting up for ccts and bumps in a Cessna at KSEA I use the left hand knob at 341* for the runway direction and I then set the right hand knob to give a heading of about 175*. After T/O I set the A/P to 'heading', fly about 10nm then turn about 90* and when the HSI centre sector starts to move I set the A/P for 'APR' for the required ILS freq. I disengage the A/P at about 2NM "hand flying" the rest of the approach and landing.

Hi Hobby :hello:

From memory.. it is usual on this sort of gyro compass for the LH knob to move the HDG index needle (single white bar with white rectangle) and (unusually for AH) it appears to be accurate for the Sea Hawk ;)

I thought about it but couldn't lay my hands on an 'un-modified' example

Right.. I don't have the will to fight the model/mapping on WV908 any more so here it is..

Available HERE
Usual T&C's apply.

It is NOT an exact replica of how the aircraft currently looks.. the model and mapping won't allow it but.. it's close ;)

BTW.. if anyone actually downloaded these, I noticed the same typo on both :wall: The description (when you choose the paint 'in sim') says FGS.6. They are of course FGA.6 8)
