Interesting article, thanks for posting. I don't remember it but my mother told me I pronounced "cute" as "coot" - but that was when I was two years old. Maybe I started something!

Interesting to read about the Queen's English.
I often yell at the TV when UK shows are on: "Where are the b**** sub-titles?"
I well know that Aussies are supposedly bad, with one book being author-signed to "Emma Chisit" when the woman asked "How much is it?"
Many of the Brits on TV seem to mumble, and this is made worse by the recent habit of excessive background music.
We have a new boss at the ABC, and even some weather news comes with music :rant: :rant:

A friend on FB linked to this video from the BBC in the 70's. Cannot remember why he did so.... aside from all that don't we mourn the decline of the BBC accent and well elucidated vocalisations.
