DH89 Rapide Fleet Repaints
Hi Guy's,
Here is the first of 12 planned repaints for VA Fleet Rapides with no current paint. As these become available, I'll modify this thread accordingly ;-) A full list of Rapides without paints is below.. those with an asterix indicate availability.
ACPR*
ACYM*
ACYR*
AEML*
AERN*
AERZ*
AFFF*
AGHI*
AGLE*
AGLR**
AGSI*
AGSJ*
AIDL*
AGTM*
Additional paints as I stumble over them..
AIYR*
AGSH*
AGLP*
AJHO*
AHGC*
AGTM Boot kit*. Two options for giving AGTM shiney boots/nacelles.. high shine and lower shine. Backup your original wings_t.bmp in case you prefer to use the dynamic shine offered by the model ;-) TMboots
EDIT..
A crisis of conscience. Having poured over the shots of AGJG I took last weekend and noticing her top wing stripes were RED/BLUE and NOT Red/White/Blue.. I've put together a pack to change all aircraft with top stripes to RED/BLUE. The paints concerned are AGLR, AGHI, AGSJ, AERZ and AGLPwt. Download all 5 textures in one pack HERE
First out of the paintshop is ACPR now updated to show later fin logo (see AGLE below).
No.2 is AGLE
No.3 is very similar to the above.. full post war RAS AGLRpostwar
No.4 AGLR as seen during wartime service with Railway Air Services LRwartime
No.5 An unusual mix and match for AFFF. Shown here (highlighted by lightning leaving Ronaldsway) as she looked at some point in late 1945.. almost back to RAS livery but still having to wear fin and side flashes. It's impossible to tell from B&W shots exactly how her side/wing reg were painted when the ref photograph was taken so I've 'best guessed' at standard RAS green with red outer.. FFFpostwarInterim
No.6 A popular and frequent visitor to many airshows in the UK.. G-AEML
No.7 Another wartime/early postwar paint.. this time for AGHI
No.8 This one and subsequent derivatives very nearly didn't happen. Despite looking very basic, this has been without doubt the most difficult paint to do. The rather dodgy lines on the nose took 7hrs work (and I still don't like em) plus the black piping on the fuse (reproduced by kind permission of Mark Beaumont off his AKIF4 paint) took him many hours of painstaking work! Anyhow.. don't look too close and it doesn't look too bad Here you go.. G-AERN
No.9 Olley Air Service Ltd circa 1945 G-AGSI
No.10 Another variation on a theme.. this time for Isle of Man Air Services Ltd G-AGSJ
Note.. SJ popped back into the paintshop after I took this shot. I couldn't decide if her spinners were silver or black and in the end decided for black as they'd gone to the trouble to paint her nacelles and boots that colour ;-)
No.11 Air Commerce circa 1945 G-AERZ
No's 12 and 13.. Peas in a pod, both pre-war Olley Air Services. First G-ACYR
and finally, G-ACYM
I couldn't find repaints for AGTM or AIDL so here's..
No.14 Air Atlantiques G-AIDL
TM to follow ;-)
No.15 And here she is.. G-AGTM
Additional paints on an as and when schedule..
No.16 First is the 'Classic' Classic Wings G-AIYR
No.17 Found this one loafing.. Alderney Airlines G-AGSH
No.18 Another variation on the RAS wartime paint seen here on G-AGLP
Note.. this file contains only the fuse and wing textures so drag and drop/copy the others into this folder from another paint ;-)
No.19. Brushes out again after 2 aquisitions. This time, G-AJHO wearing the colours of Brooklands Aviation Ltd GAJHO
No.20. Final one for this batch.. G-AHGC of Scillonia Airways GAHGC

Re: DH89 Rapide Fleet Repaints
Someone here has a lot to answer for with regard to the unlikely marriage between me and paint  What else can I do to avoid the April VA Awards ;-)

Cheers Guy's ;-)
More to come but it's difficult interpreting B&W so taking a bit longer than I'd hoped
