Neither; for this Christmas at least the turkey came first (and last). Which of course leads on to an even more interesting conundrum; if a chicken is related to a turkey (and I assume that it is) which came first the chicken or the turkey?
And BTW my vote goes to the egg. If you follow the thread of evolution when does the first real chicken occur? When does something that is "like" a chicken turn into a chicken? It follows that (and this has to be an absolute) the first real chicken has to come from the egg of something that was nearly a chicken!
And to add some (more) spice to the debate when does the chicken become NOT a chicken?

When you buy it from your local KFC-clone (meow)?ChrisHunt wrote:And to add some (more) spice to the debate when does the chicken become NOT a chicken?

Ah, just because it's more primitive doesn't imply a lack of sophistication; look at oysters, some (with pearls) can be very cultured :roll:TobyVickers wrote:In comparison to a Trilobite, yes

AndyG - that's more revolution than evolution! Or even Quantom Physics (see second para). It's one of a few instances when something metomorphises from state A to state B within a few seconds - I'm not sure that it counts!.
Also the absolute of state B is dependent on which KFC you go to and at which time of night you happen to go! I've known some interesting states anywhere from B to J (not all edible). If that's not Quantom Physics in operation I'm not sure what is!
