Museum update

Post by Airspeed »

There's an app called Marketplace where people clear out stuff to, mainly local, readers.
Short story is, a bloke wanted a good home for some plastic models he'd made 50 years back.
I was one of 200, apparently, who showed interest. As I told him they would go in my museum, and he asked for photos of it as evidence, he chose me to receive them. I re-jigged the original cabinet, and this is the current situation.
I put a mirror under the 4 engined bomber, as the bomb bay is open, and the bomb racks are a point of interest.

There are some major overhaul plans, which I will thrust upon you in due course

Nice haul Mike!

I see a few models in there I built myself over the years and a few I still have in my (meager) collection.

Blimey! I'm halfway through building the Mossie. Production being held up by a minor stroke/Bells Palsy.

Only another 40+ to make before the stash is gone.

Looking good Mike, and a very worthy home for that lot. I don't think I ever made a Lancaster, even when I was a kid, but I do remember having a kit in a box. :dunno:

Nice Mike.
I did have a Lanc back in the day, but that's long gone. Would like to make another, but don't have room at the moment. Would love one of these: https://www.emodels.co.uk//hong-kong-mo ... d_source=1, but I don't think SWMBO would be too impressed!

You’d need a couple of sheds bolted together for that one 😁

Hi Allan,
Sorry to hear about your extra health woes :(
Is it the Airfix 1/72 Mossie, or something larger?
I'm sure it will be a magnificent model, judging by your earlier work included here in 2020:

Would love to see any shots you have, even if W.I.P., either in the scale models topic, or by PM

Mike, its the 1/48 scale that came out around 30 years ago. Fit is pretty good for its age but getting brittle in places. At he moment its just a box of half assembled/painted bits which require a bit of concentration. I will get you a picture or two in due course.

Once made it is off to a 6 year old who is amazingly careful with my kits. 2 years ago I built the original 1/24 Airfix Spitfire for his Christmas and it still hangs from the bedroom ceiling untouched. With my grandson if I gave him a completed kit it was a case of "six months to make and six seconds to break"

Being chained to my modelling desk keeps me off the streets though.

Thanks for your kind thoughts.
