Re: Another One Bites the Dust!
Sorry I have come into this so late. Please pass my condolences and my best wishes on to his wife and family. He was truly a great person showing such fortitude, courage and humour whist facing the end. As so may people of this forum have said I only hope I face the end with the same attitude. all the best Ian wherever you are.

Re: Another One Bites the Dust!
Just rushed into this - so late, I'm so sorry, it's so sad to read!
A coureageous man indeed.
My thoughts go out to his family and friends. Very sincerely.
Ah, it's so hard to find the right words...
Thank you for all your kind lines here, Ian!
Thank you for your advice and for your good humour.
I truly hope you're off for a better place.
Fair winds and following seas,
Nick

Re: Another One Bites the Dust!
Hi folks, only just caught up with this, very very sad to hear Ian's gone now.
RIP Ian, My deepest condolences to your family and friends as well, sorry I never met you but you came over as a decent bloke, the sort of person we should always appreciate more and welcome into our lives when we can.
I lost my mum to cancer 5 years ago. Sitting by her bed holding her hand while she slips away is not something I will ever forget nor wish on anyone, the only comfort was in knowing what's happening, which sort of helped me cope with it.
Thanks Ben for sending the card from the community here and to everyone else who's kept in touch with Ian over the years. Communities like these are that makes everyone's life much more bearable and something to be proud off & helps our families realise that their loved ones are / were appreciated where they walked in life.
Paul, your epitaph & shot of the Lanc. was first class.
I'll lift a glass to you tonight Ian, hope your doing OK wherever you've ended up now.

Re: Another One Bites the Dust!
Troops..
Some have asked and many will be wondering about Ian's funeral arrangements. I've been in touch with Andy today and it seems the authorities down in that part of the world are not as efficient (read speedy) as they might be and the whole procedure is taking what must be painfully long for his wife, kids and those close to him.
Fear not though. Andy has promised he'll let me know as soon as the i's are dotted and the t's are crossed so we'll all be able to say our goodbye's to Ian on his final outing wherever we may be
Oh.. nearly forgot.. Ian's family have been touched by the cards and best wishes received from his friends here

Re: Another One Bites the Dust!
Thanks, Dave
Ian's passing has been on my mind throughout this week. And his family and friends.
I hope they are comforted in every way.
By the by.
I heard a joke that reminded me of Ian, the sense of humor he had.
Let's see..
A couple of blokes were having a natter when one says to the other.
Frederick starts off.
Say mate, how's your relationship going with your new found love.
Lawrence
Oh Jenny?, well she's very well off you know. Things are great, but sometimes I get the impression she wants me to be her house boy. Get me this get me that ...
Frederick
... well , you don't suppose she'll want you to wear a uniform do you?
Lawrence.
.... I'll insist on it..
I HopeI got that right.

Re: Another One Bites the Dust!
Many thanks for that Dave.I lost another friend to the big C earlier this year and ,I fear, another one even younger soon.Yet for some reason Ian's passing affected me equally , even though I never met him.Strange.EricT
Now at the age where I know I like girls but can't remember why!
Re: Another One Bites the Dust!
Cheers for the update Dave. I got the impression the funeral was a private family one?
Ben.
