What do you recommend please- UK VFR scenery?
...I have been thinking about this for a few weeks now....flying to the UK
every month, Heathrow mainly, and with a new more powerful computer,
FS seems to run smoother, and its time to put more addons...
what wouldyou recommend please, UK VFR or VFR Gen X addons!?
Is the Gen X difficult to install , I have read this somewhere...is it heavier in frames than the previous one I mentioned, VFR England?!
I have both FS9 and FSX installed anyway...just curious, thank you in advance for any input.

GenX for me everytime. It also includes the old FS9 product on the disks too, and I've just seen somewhere (payware section of teh forum I think) that the whole lot can be bought for £29 at the moment.

That was a 'one off' Ben.. it's back at £60 +/- again AFAIK
Rui.. Ben's other comments hold true. GenX v2 includes UKVFRPhoto scenery for FS9 so if you don't consider it 'free' as Horizon do.. even £60 is inexpensive

well.........I am still young and restless, and at the age of 40 I still jump into things...ebay had them for a great price, and I purchased England VFR....for FS2002 AND FS2004 !!!
No autogen...I mean, not one single tree or house around...no night lighting either...its good if you're enroute at 33.000 feet and you're flying over the UK, but no good for a short flight from say, Bembridge to Northolt
I should know better....guess its time to go check the other VFR scenery, GENX V2 as you say...thank you fellas.

No, unless you do a lot of low level you probably won't notice it after a while I don't if I am using GenX UK scenery.Metalmaster wrote:errr....does that new GENX VFR scenery set of DVDs include autogen !?

There is a lot of freeware autogen for the UK, although some areas are better covered than others.
Have a look at Shep's Shed: http://www.shepsshed.com/autogentrees.htm
A lot of freeware airfields such as those from Tony Meredith, and our Trev Clark also contain autogen for the areas around the airfields.

The FS9 autogen from Shepshed also works in FSX... BUT creates a huge frame-rate hit as it's not natively FSX.
