In case anyone missed it... uploaded over at Sim-Outhouse by AndyG is
Dave Garwood's (with his permission) Fs9 Hawker Hunter FR.10

Time for a few 'recce' runs on Mirbat :)

(hmm...bit convoluted there..but you'll get the idea!)

I actually got one flight in an FR10, on July 2 1961 in XE579...It belonged to 8 Squadron and I flew it from Kuwait to Bahrain. I remember a few things about it.
It had a radio compass.
It had an aileron gearing switch to make bank control much finer for oblique photography.
It had a tiny new type of RPM gauge.
The aeroplane was brand new and shiny and I enjoyed my 1 hour flight :agree:

Sadly she didn't survive for long after you flew her; according to the Radfan Hunters site she crashed on August 8th, sadly the pilot was killed.

Ahhh Shiney II, takes me back to EDUO circa 1970 as a fresh faced SAC Mover watching those fabulous FR10's.

All loaded and the nostalgia is flooding back....the only problem, and now I remember why I stopped flying Daves' beautiful Hunter models were those awful "blurries". I vaguely remember there is a fix but it sounded awfully technical, and being of limited powers in these matters :help: does anyone have a relatively simple solution?

It would make an old f**t very happy, and when Manschy finishes his EDUO for FS9 to have FR10's AND my F2A's in circuit..well, what more can one say

Hi all,
My first post so please forgive me if I mess anything up.
Shortly before Silversim's post on 24.9.11 I found a cure, at least on my machine, for the FS9 Hunter "blurries". After loading the textures one by one and then the sim' to look at each one in turn I found the culprits were panel_left.bmp, panel_right.bmp, wheel_c.bmp and wheel_m.bmp. After some experimentation I finally saved them using Martin Wright's DXTbmp utility in DXT1 no alpha ,(with mips), format. I have dropped these textures into all the marks of Hunter, using both the original download texture packs and the ones that I use which are saved in DXT3 format. I get no blurring when using the aircraft as a flyer, AI or static object.
What I have done is very much the same as Peter Mcleland did in his his post here:
http://www.cbfsim.co.uk/cbfs_bb/viewtop ... es#p159395
The odd thing is that I tried this at the time and it didn't work for me. The only difference between the two "cures" is the tool used to save the textures which just goes to show what a strange problem this is.
I spoke to Dave Garwood about this, (what a decent bloke - also kindly supplied the above link), and we both think it must come down to different combinations of graphics card/drivers.
I have a zip file containing the relevant updated textures if anyone would like to try them but being brand new here, as well as dim, I don't know how or where to send it.
Hope the above is of some help.
I must also, on my first post, offer my thanks and appreciation to all of you here who have made all these astonishing aircraft, panels, sounds etc for the rest of us to enjoy. Brilliant stuff gentlemen.
Regards,
Alan

Hi Allan,

Welcome to CBFM, and I agree what a grand set of chaps/chapesses who produce such excellent quality aircraft etc.

With regard to an updated texture link, yes i would appreciate a go at them, perhaps if you ask one the mods how to go about it, they may be able to assist, because the instructions as supplied are bit beyond me, all this mips, DXT's etc. I am the original dim wit, not too bad at straight forward downloads etc, but when it comes to messing about in the guts of a programme, I am the one who manages to **** it up big time. :S

Regards
Geoff

Hi Geoff/Allan (welcome Allan ;) )

I got this email a few weeks ago and posted in admin asking if anyone had replied. It seems DG replied directly ;) I have the textures but didn't post them as there's no indication that anyone replied (DG replied to Allan but not to my post)

I'll make them available this afternoon on this thread ;)
