Complaints Department

Post by adysmith »

After flying the DC3 for hours and hours I discover it has given me an "overspeed taxiing" penalty.

WTF?? I rolled down the runway at Gib, took off, climbed to FL90, and on landing at Northolt stopped fairly quickly.

All I can assume is that it registered a small skip and bounce at Gib (not unusual in the DC3) and presumed I had landed.

Can someone investigate and how do I get that cancelled?

I've flagged the flight for review and asked that the penalty be removed or.. the flight deleted. Don't use this airframe until the review is complete. Do you have text messages turned on? I always had it on though to be honest, it may not have flagged this.

What do you mean text messages turned on?

When I used to fly, there was an option to have events displayed in text along the top of the screen. It would display things like taxi, takeoff, landed e t c. Whether it would display taxi over-speeds.. I can't remember. It would definitely show an overspeed below FL100, landing lights and parking brake though it wouldn't show if you started a flight with the parking brake off. You'd only get this sorry news at the end! 8)

I looked at the flight and unfortunately the black box data does not show when the penalty happened, looks like it started recording 3 hours into the flight. But the penalty is already cleared.

Thanks Joe

I couldn't see anything untoward in the Black Box either. Odd that it started recording 3hrs in *-)

How long does it take for the flight to either be reviewed or deleted?

That's very much a case of how longs a piece of string mate. Depends on who's available at FSA and their current workload. Is it still showing under review? Joe has cleared your penalty so I presumed it was good to go.

The penalty has been cleared so I think I will take a DC3 to Lisbon today.

BTW GAMPP has been sat at Aberdeen at 96.1% for a week and more needing maintenance.

OK.. I'll see to that one. If anyone feels like taking the piston props on as a fleet manager.. I'm more than happy to relinquish my tenure ;)
