Re: TV heads-up
Yeah the "3D" photo wheeze is ubiquitous and old-hat at this stage. I missed most of the content/archive mismatch: I was probably too wrapped up in the narration to notice. (Which is a good thing.) The leap from the Vampire to the Buccaneer was a bit too sudden when so much detail went int...

Re: TV heads-up
It was a really, really good programme. He's a great storyteller and so charismatic. Some superb and well judged archive footage, though the digital colourising I could have done without. The only flaw was that it could have been an hour longer, or a two-parter, with more on his postwar career.

Re: Sir Jack Brabham
A truly great champion and innovator to boot. Also the first man to win the world championship in a mid-engined car - the Cooper-Climax - in 1959-60. And it shouldn't be forgotten that the late Denny Hulme retained the drivers' title in the Brabham-Repco in 1967. In fact, the Repco story is as inter...

Re: RMS Olympic building and Launch
Thanks so much for posting this: I'd seen quite a bit of it before but it's so well cut together and the music and sounds really help bring it to life. I spend six months a year working on Queen's Island and pass by the old H&W yards every morning. What a sight it must have been back then. Indee...

Re: End of an era for Titan
I'll probably be flying Dublin-London City some time in the spring, but with CityJet up for sale, perhaps the RJ85 fleet's days are numbered too.

Re: HU BBC2 Friday 21.00
I thought it was narratively weak and could have done without the joyride in the Jet Provost. There was good material surrounding the selling of the Nene to the Soviets and the knock-on effects on the Korean War. I suspect a whole programme could have been made about this alone. I suppose one has to...

Re: BA Fleet changes
I'm actually a little surprised that the 747s are to remain in service as long as 2023 and beyond. That said, I don't know what their average age is. Times are certainly changing.

QQ101 carries a roundel in that position. It is a very smart livery.Garry Russell wrote:Smart

Re: XH558 grounded
An improvement in a way as they are talking about raising the funding for the next two years when a few month back this was going to be the last season...again!! So maybe next year mate...they might make a point of including any missed venue's *-) Unfortunately the event in Dublin is a one-off. She...

XH558 grounded
Looks like XH558's fuel tank problem is going to keep her grounded for the rest of the year.

Such a pity as she was scheduled to take part in a flypast in Dublin on Sunday and it would have been my best chance of seeing her in flight.
