Aerobask have released their Robin DR401 as freeware for XP11 https://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?/forums/topic/151436-aerobask-robin-dr401-freeware/&tab=comments#comment-1436384 Woah! Together with the Lancair Legacy, this'll make for hours of GA fun. Now if there only was a freeware GA aircr...

Re: X-Plane 11 My Verdict
A minute later, she was a smoldering wreck. Landings apparently work a bit differently compared to FSX.
Back to flight school.

Re: X-Plane 11 My Verdict
The X-Plane 11 demo is around 7 GB. And forget about that NZ ortho scenery. At that zoom level, each tile(!) is 8 to 9 GB and there's around 60 of them. UHD Mesh v4 ist the much more economical solution, clocking in at around 2 GB and using X-Plane's landclass system. http://www.alpilotx.net/downloa...

Re: X-Plane 11 My Verdict
Slowly upgrading from the "tinkering" to the "flying" stage with a short lap around Berlin (EDAY - EDAZ). My desktop PC easily manages 40+ FPS at maximum object density with HDR and 2xSSAA. Haven't had a sim look that good since...well, never. https://i.imgur.com/u36IHCd.png http...

Re: X-Plane 11 My Verdict
many thanks for the info Bjoern, though not being clued up how do you get windows to manage the page file? Never came across out of memory yet probably because I am running X Plane 11 on lower settings than I should. I think it's the default setting. Oddly enough, however, having Windows manage it,...

Re: X-Plane 11 My Verdict
To all those running out of memory: Let Windows manage your page file and make sure you've got enough free hard drive space! Or manually enlarge it! X-Plane reserves around 10 GB of virtual memory on my setup and with 4 GB of available physical RAM (the rest is occupied by the laptop's GPU) and a pr...

Re: X-Plane 11 My Verdict
Brilliant aircraft isn't it Bjoern, It can certainly be classed as a payware product though I have found one obstacle in my way and that is the elevator trim so hoping that you may have the answer. I set 2 switches on my throttle quadrant for elevator trim but they do not work and have to keep trim...

Re: X-Plane 11 My Verdict
Believe it or not, I've tried the demo version. Seattle international and the local highways looked very sparse, so I slid the number of objects and reflection intensity partly to the right. Improved the appearance a bit, but came with a warning that I had exceeded my computer's ability. It was sho...

Re: X-Plane 11 My Verdict
Had half a flight in the Zibo 737-800 last night. It qualifies as the best freeware airliner I've ever seen in any flight simulator so far. Granted, most of the groundwork was done by Laminar, but the system and sound enhancements are breathtaking. Not to mention the immersion of flying through clou...

Re: X-Plane 11 My Verdict
After having tried HD Mesh for the demo area and some freeware planes, I shoved $59,99 (or around 52€) over the table, mostly as kind of a development support package.
