Re: Ukraine
Thank you for drawing attention to that. It landed at Brussels at 0839 UTC, and was scrupulous in avoiding Uk airspace, not even taking the direct track nearer to Norfolk . Candidly, I feel a bit sorry for these people - it must be a strange feeling to know that never again in your foreseeable flyin...

Re: Ukraine
I can't believe they would have risked flying to Kyiv. There is currently an RAF RC-135W Rivet Joint aircraft patrolling the Polish border with Belarus and Ukraine. Kevin Interesting. And full marks to Bojo - particularly the extensive walkabout . Noticeable that in recent days RAF and USAF activit...

Re: Ukraine
They've been keeping an eye on that area sporadically. Another thing of interest is that an RAF A400 has been making ( presumably?) deliveries to the very far NE of Norway over the last few days

Re: Video of 737-800 China Airlines Crash.
The film is not of great quality, but I cannot see a tailplane . The loss of the downforce is about the one aerodynamic feature that inevitably would result in this dive. The last time this happened to my recollection was to the ATR42/72 which suffered tailplane icing Edit : I'm completely wrong abo...

Re: Ukraine
Fascinating. A very shrewd and rational explanation of why NATO intervention on the basis of a no-fly zone would be unhelpful

Re: Ukraine
This Russian had a bit of luck - but it does show what hand held launchers can achieve - I think it unlikely that this SU25 will ever fly again - scroll down and click on the video

Re: Ukraine
There are not many laughs in this sorry situation, but right at the moment there are two Beech electronic surveillance aircraft stooging up and down central Lithuania whose call signs are .... wait for it ............YANK01 and YANK02. Who said the Americans don't have a sense of humour ?

Re: Ukraine
Even more curiously, right now ( Monday 1158 UTC) there is a Rivet Joint and 2 B52s circling over SE Romania. The B52s crossed Czech airspace earlier . I surmise that the Tankers follow the Polish route because they are accompanied by fighters and the airspace is rather more congested than further s...
